# YIELDMAT Excel Formula

Functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel are the powerful tools by themselves. One of the ways for the different functions to be more useful is when they are combined in the same cell. Each of the function in Microsoft Excel can be combined with other functions in just one straight formula. Thus, it allows experienced and professional Microsoft Excel users in making formulas to perform complex data calculation and analysis. With Microsoft Excel, you can enter up to 32,000 characters in a cell but in the Excel’s formula bar, you can enter up to 1,000 characters only. The creation of the long formulas makes them hard to be figured out and maintain. Keep in mind that the given transition from the Microsoft Excel 2007 and Microsoft Excel 2003 removed the limits numbers within the formulas.

The basic operations of Microsoft Excel depend on the typical features of the entire worksheet or spreadsheet. Thus, it uses the cell grid which is arranged in named columns and numbered rows. This is responsible for the organization and manipulations of different data such as arithmetic and mathematical data. Microsoft Excel has a wide range of supplied functions and formulas in answering financial, engineering and statistical problems and needs.

Microsoft Excel has a large number of various functions and formulas wherein they are used in working with the worksheet or spreadsheet to calculate, analyze, format, formulate data and it also concerns with the arithmetic and mathematical problems as well. These functions and formulas are really important since without them the user can never solve their problem regarding the spreadsheet’s formula. One of these important functions is the YIELDMAT function. In Microsoft Excel, YIELDMAT function returns the annual yield of the security, which pays the interest within its maturity. Excel returns the #NAME! error value if this function is unavailable. Thus, to avoid this, you have to load and install the “Analysis ToolPak add-in”. The syntax for the YIELDMAT function in Microsoft Excel is “YIELDMAT(settlement, maturity, issue, rate, pr, basis)”.

Keep in mind that dates should be entered through using the DATE Function. If the user does not do this, problems might occur. Thus, you should not enter the dates as text. The settlement argument is the settlement date of the security. The security date is considered the date of issuance right after the security is being traded to buyer. Maturity is the maturity date of security. Maturity is considered the date when the security expires. Issue is considered the issue date of security, which is expressed as the dated serial number. Rate is considered the interest rate at the issue date of the security. Pr is considered the price per “$100 per value” of the security. Basis is considered the type of the basis of the day count to be used in the calculation.
